Dancing Jewels Ballet School will start their 16th season this year.

The School is proud of its’ history, path and achievements.

First of all huge heartfelt Thank You to all the Parents who trusted us and brought their children to learn ballet and dance in our School, also for their contribution, understanding and support throughout. We started small and slowly but steady grown into strong and beautiful group of dedicated dancers.

In 2018 till summer of 2022 A. Couglan’s School of Dance became part of DJBS. Abilities and strong classical base of Aruba’s students opened new possibilities to try more of classical repertoire thus enriching and enhancing the potential of the school.

DJBS participated in these events:

• Port Got Talent 2010 and 2012

• Shakefest, Tullamore 2011, 2015

• Trip to Lithuania, E. Balsys National School of Arts, Klaipeda, Lithuania in collaboration with Dance Team EOS in 2013

• Special performance for Lithuanian Ambassador visiting Lithuanian Community in Co. Laois in 2018

• Laois Dance Platform – 2017(One Day), 2018 (The Dance Lesson), 2019 (Song of the Earth), 2021 (The Meadow, dance film online)

• Cultural Night in Firkin Crane, Cork Autumn 2020 (Autumn Leaves and Midnight Waltz)

Port Art Festival, 2021 (Solo performances)

• French Festival, Solas, 2023 and 2024

• Lietuviams Rupi (Lithuanians care) organised annual charity event for Lithuanian children suffering from cancer at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin 2023

• St. Brigit’s Day organized by Port Art Collective 2024.

Vanesa Diraityte participated at Global Dance Open Belfast Qualifier and Finals in Avila, Spain 2023

IDTA Exams:

all students are encouraged to take part in the ballet examinations. They are tough and require dedication, patience and perseverance. Students have achieved considerable results, good number of students passing exams with distinction and reaching 90 mark.

 

Number of Students have successfully auditioned for Monica Loughman Ballet Company. 1 girl combined her knowledge of contemporary dance and elements from ballet variation created especially for her and successfully passed auditions getting a place in Limerick University to study Modern Dance. Recently one of our students received an invitation to an Associate Program to Morea Performing Arts

 

Also DJBS has attracted interesting and academically strong students, we think and hope that ballet played a significant part in their achievements. Practicing ballet these students learned patience, perseverance, strength how to deal with various life situations, how to push yourself and stand up strong after smaller or bigger failures. Dancing together in a group girls learned to feel each other, synchronise their movements and work as one unit.

• 1student's Junk Couture design was Eastern Region winner and had an opportunity to be in the Festival de Cannes and walk the red Carpet;

• 2 students achieving more than or equivalent of 600 points in their Leaving Certificate;

• 1 student getting the highest GPA in her course in UCD and getting a place in Oxford University to study PHD in Biochemical Science.

 

Recent achievements:

• Addition of Contemporary Dance Section

•  4 1st places and overall dancer award at IDTA All Irelands Competition 2024

•  2 3rd places (Ballet Classwork and Contemporary Duet) and

• 2nd place for Contemporary Group Dance at National Dance Championships
